Chempaka Buddhist Lodge (CBL) was established in 1985 by a group of ¡°Lay People¡±. With their compassion they collectively initiated the forming of a Buddhist Lodge at Chempaka New Village, Petaling Jaya. It was then decided it should be named Chempaka Buddhist Lodge, after the name of the location it was situated in. CBL in the Chinese language literally means Buddhist Lodge for Hundreds of Thousands of Families. Therefore, the naming of CBL coincided with the Buddhism belief of receiving and accommodating as many people as possible for the benefit of Buddhist Dhamma teachings and Buddha¡¯s doctrines. Thus CBL serves as a gateway, providing a learning environment, a place of worship for different traditions of Buddhism practice, learning and research.
