Our client is a Spanish manufacturing business founded in 1943 with sales exceeding €2.3 Billion in 2007. The organisation is a major European player in the recycled paper and corrugated packaging sector and currently operates in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and the United Kingdom and employs over 7000 people. The company is Spain’s biggest paper recycling company and its plants operate to the highest safety, environmental and quality performance standards.
As part of its ambitious growth strategy this phenomenally successful organisation plans to build one of the world’s most advanced, state-of-the-art, recycled paper mills in the UK at Partington Wharfside, Trafford, Manchester. This project represents an investment of £250 million in a fully integrated paper mill using the very latest technology to process recovered paper into lightweight, high performance recycled papers to be used in the later manufacture of corrugated boxes across the UK.
They currently have an opportunity available for an Operations Engineer to join them to manage the safe and efficient operation of the Paper Mill including all aspects of the paper making process, power station, raw water and effluent treatment plants on a shift basis with the support of the Operation Manager.
You will be expected to manage around 15 Shift Operators who will operate the plant on a 24/7 basis, overseeing the effective management, development and training of all shift team personnel.
Candidates for these roles should have proven experience in a modern continuous manufacturing environment within the aerospace, food, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, motor or another related industry; paper mill experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
You must be qualified to Degree level or equivalent in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Control or Instrument Engineering or Production Engineering and be familiar with modern manufacturing techniques and principles. Please be aware that this is a shift role and you must accept and understand the implications of this; some overtime work may also be required for this role. Candidates for these positions will be required to attend extensive training in Spain for a period of 12 - 18 months, with a suitable compensation package for this period in Spain.
